Beauty for 2013
I’ve been using some newly discovered (for me) products for the past few weeks and I just wanted to share my verdicts with you. I think by now it’s pretty obvious that I love, love, love makeup since I find myself gushing endlessly about all the pretty colours. Lately, however, I’ve also been pretty concerned about what I’m putting on my skin. I have fairly normal skin, sometimes it gets oily, sometimes it gets dry but nothing too extreme and I’d like to keep it that way.
So here goes:
Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask: I bought this fairly recently and can decidedly say that this product will remain a staple in my beauty drawer. It’s has a jelly like texture that foams slightly when I put it on my face. I leave it on for about 20-30 minutes before going out to an event and my whole complexion just brightens right up.
Bliss Triple Oxygen Mask: A quick morning pick me up. Sometimes I don’t sleep very well or it was a long night so I just put this on right before I brush my teeth. The lather is amazing and the foam feels tingly on my skin, wakes me right up. Best of all it only needs to stay on for 5 minutes!
Amore Pacific Moisture Bound: This one I discovered by accident. I had a sample packet handed to me in the department store and was instantly hooked. I use this mask once every 10 days or so and keep it on for the night. When I haven’t been eating quite as well or the weather changes and my skin starts following its own rules, this is a lifesaver. It’s a gel that sinks right in and in the morning wipes off if there’s any left over. When traveling I won’t leave home without it. I’ve actually used it on the plane dabbing it right under my eyes and my complexion stays fresh no matter how long the flight.
Embryolisse Face Cream: My newest discovery. I received a sample when I was visiting Curlique and quickly realized that I might not be able to live without it. This is a whipped up cloud. It’s light and fluffy and good for all skin types. I don’t know how but it seems to just erase any flaws that I may have. When I went in to buy it today I was terrified that it was going to be unaffordable but at $28, well I think I can handle that. In fact, it’s cheaper than some drugstore brands.
Nuxe for lips/eyes: Random find at the drugstore but I’m a new convert. The lip balm is quite thick and creates a film on my lips so I’ve been wearing it first thing in the morning and then putting it on before I go to bed at night. A few days in and my lips look plumper and are definitely smoother. As for the eyes, this cream is nice and light and seems to tame that pesky morning puffiness…
Clarins Beauty Flash Balm: I use this every single day, just mix a drop with my foundation and it creates a layer of perfection on my skin. Flash Balm can also be used as a mask but I like it for everyday.
As I focus and streamline, these are some of the products that will definitely be following me into the new year. Of course I always make sure to wear sunscreen!

caroline1t December 29, 2012 at 11:14 pm
Oh yay!!!! That’s awesome, can’t wait to see what you think. Just remember that you really don’t need a lot if you are using it the way I do.

I’ve never tried an overnight mask – does it dry/harden or is more like a moisturizer? I only get around to doing a mask once a month or so, because it seems like I never have time to wait for the product to set after washing my face at night or in the morning. Overnight seems like a good solution.
caroline1t December 30, 2012 at 1:11 am
It’s a fine gel so it’s a moisturizer. I agree that I don’t have the patience to wait out the hardening ones either. This one completely fades into your skin after about 5 minutes. No mess on the pillow!

I’d love to try the Clarins beauty flash balm, I just wish it was a little cheaper! <3
caroline1t December 30, 2012 at 10:02 am
I know it’s not the cheapest but I can tell you that with the amount I use it lasts for just about 4 months. I just use a tiny bit mixed in with my foundation.

My skin is the same way, it gets oily sometimes and is dry sometimes. I need to take you to Macy’s with me. I have an amazing giftcard to Macy’s and I want new makeup, but when I get to the makeup and skincare section I am so overwhelmed by all of the products. I want a good concealer, a good eyeliner and a few other things. I love eyeliner, but I always seem to buy and try the wrong products :/

Ha! I’m in. I totally agree by the way, the minute I see all the amazing stuff at the beauty counter my whole brain freezes! I love my new Nars pen liner. It stays where I put it and you apply it like you would if you were just holding a pen… very easy!

ha, my beauty regimen is pretty much the same as it was in high school: neutrogena face wash (now with redness reducing action!) and whatever nearby lotion i can find to add a little moisture between my brows. i’ve definitely been wanting to find an actual moisturizer, so i’ll keep these in mind!
caroline1t December 30, 2012 at 10:05 am
I hate making things complicated too! All of these products are definitely not for everyday. Usually I wash my face apply moisturizer/sunscreen and then makeup. That’s it!

How strange – I was just thinking that I need to find something to help with my forehead lines – because i might only be in my mid-twenties but if i get on it now, I won’t have a catastrophe at 40. Very fitting and glad to hear some of your favorite products!
