Powder Puff #2
Welcome to the second installment of the Powder Puff treats review. As you know I was really impressed by the hair products and am already using the full size bottles. Next up we have primer, eye serum and face cream!
First is Laura Mercier’s Foundation Primer – Radiance . I don’t usually wear primer because I find that it just feels too heavy on my skin. With face cream and SPF and foundation, it’s just too much. After having used this for the past few weeks I hang my head in shame. Okay I get it. I know why everyone swears by a good primer and this one is fabulous. I just need the smallest amount to cover my whole face. I was really surprised to find that a hint of the shimmer seeps through my foundation and gives me a wonderful all over glow. Also, in the summer, I can use it as a highlighter over top of my makeup. This is not the primer for a matte look but if you are looking for a dewy fresh finish then I can definitely recommend it.
Next is the Regenessence, Eye Rejuvenating serum from Giorgio Armani. I’m really happy I got two samples because this is a great cream. It’s very light and has an immediate cooling sensation around my eyes. I might have to start saving up….or maybe I’ll just make friends with the girls at the counter.
Last but certainly not least is Creme de La Mer face cream. Alright so I admit that did not know that you need to warm this up in your hands before applying. I might be the last person on earth who didn’t know this and the first time I applied it, the cream felt just awful on my face. Shocked, I decided this was impossible. There is way too much hype around this cream. All the stars use it and it’s a miracle cream developed by an aerospace physicist. No I just had to try again. After a little research I learned that you need to rub the cream gently between your fingers….. Now I have a problem because I love it. Although I hear that it lasts a very long time, I might need to get a second job.
Stay tuned for installment number 3 where I will take a look at some really great lipsticks!

I too have never bothered to use foundation primer for the same reasons you mentioned, but you’ve made me very curious about the Laura Mercier’s !

I swear by Smashbox’s primer (that I use as general primer for every kind of makeup). I really noticed when I went to the gym without removing my makeup and it actually didn’t look like my face was melting!
Sincerely,
Sabrina

OOH! Can’t wait to try that foundation primer. I love Laura Mercier products. I just got a sample of Le Mer face cream last week! I love it but might have to take out a second mortgage to afford it! Great post!

I’ve always wanted to try La Mer. I think it’s a good idea to start with the small size to test it out… I think it would be worthwhile if it truly works and perhaps eliminates the need for other products. But such a big investment to find out!!!

Great reviews! Don’t worry, I would not have known to warm up the cream in your hands before use either! I need to get into the habit of using moisturizing creams. I currently just use Kiss My Face lotion for everything

The La Mer cream is just great. I don’t use it cause it is a little bit expensive but it can do miracles.

caroline1t February 13, 2013 at 10:41 pm
This one is very light and I put barely any on! That tiny jar lasted for 3 weeks….
SymoneF February 10, 2013 at 8:41 pm
I recently had my makeup done at a Laura Mercier counter and I have to say that radiance primer is worth a buy! I bought the eye basics primer and I absolutely love that. Radiance primer is next! Looking forward to the next installment

I would have done the same thing with La Mer cream!!lol So you agree it lives up to the hype? I’m curious to know how your skin felt the next morning?
cravensavor February 12, 2013 at 9:38 pm
I LOVE La Mer, I actually get the cream in the winter and the lighter face lotion in the seasons when I don’t have such dry skin.. it comes in a pump, so it’s easy for me (i prefer pump bottles to jars). I usually wait until the holidays where they have promos to buy more product for less.. but still wish it didn’t cost so much.
caroline1t February 13, 2013 at 8:51 pm
That’s a great idea… I wish it were cheaper too!
