Powder Puff #3

Alright we’ve reached the finale of my Powder Puff product reviews. It should say something about my evening that I was able to get enough real samples to write 3 separate posts. While I truly believe that a gorgeous face begins with healthy skin, I find makeup is kind of more fun to talk about than creams. Also, a minor disclaimer, you’ll probably find truer colours on the Giorgio Armani site. So let’s jump right in.

Originally the plan was to get a sheer red lipstick, something that would be perfect for day. I live in a very casual town and on a day to day basis, I just don’t have enough places to go that would warrant a very prominent lip. There are a few different counters that I regularly browse for my lipsticks. Lately I’ve been liking Armani since they happen to have a really nice assortment of sheers. The one I picked was Rouge 401. It has a blue undertone and is  perfect for my skin tone. This lipstick goes on very smooth and lasts for a really long time. The best part is that I can layer it according to my needs.

Number 11 – Brilliant Shine, is really a lovely shade of pink with a hint of bronze-y sparkle, so it  has a warm tone. I would classify it as an enhanced nude. It’s a very girlie, pretty colour. Truthfully I probably never would have chosen this one on my own but now that I have it, I’m really happy. Usually the colours that accompany gift sets aren’t my first choice, but I think this one would be great for anyone. Number 11 will be perfect for spring!

Gloss

Next up is #603 -Plum, Gloss d’Armani supreme lasting wet shine. It looks very brown in the package but not bad when applied. I have a couple of purple based lipsticks which have blue undertones while this one is a warm shade. The colour is good but I have to admit I’m not crazy about the finish. I’ve been looking for a good lipgloss for a very long time now. The texture of this one is smooth and hydrating but in the end it’s sticky. I just can’t get past that. If my hair happens to blow in the wind the last thing I need is to have it stick to my lips. Never a good look.

The final gem and unexpected treasure is Lip Maestro, The Red #400. (Please note that this one is a true red, I couldn’t quite capture the shade). Well as you know I’m not a fan of lipglosses but this is like putting liquid velvet on your lips. The colour is beyond intense, so much so in fact, that it stained my lips. I actually had to take it off before I took my dog for a walk because it intimidated me just a little bit. If you are looking for your lips to enter the room several minutes before you do then there’s no contest, Lip Maestro is for you!
